Quentin Talley, acclaimed for multiple talents, is an accomplished poet, actor, director, and producer. He is the inaugural recipient of the 2012 LeadershipU Fellowship for emerging theater professionals, administered by Theater Communications Group and funded by The Andrew Mellon Foundation. Recently, he received Arts & Science Council Inaugural Creative Renewal Fellowship and will be in NYC assisting Renowned Jazz Percussionist, Warren Smith, 50 year music archive until early 2018. As a poet, Quentin has performed throughout the country as a National Award Winning Slam Poet and has appeared in the Borders Open-Door Poetry series and Turner South network, as well as shared the stage with such luminaries as Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Nikki Giovanni, Amiri Baraka, MC Lyte, Sonia Sanchez and Tavis Smiley. As an Actor, he has worked professionally with Children’s Theater of Charlotte, Actor’s Theatre of Charlotte, Winston Salem Arts Council, and New River Dramatist. His directing credits include: Rise For Freedom, Opera Carolina's: Art, Poetry, Music, Dutchman, For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf, Day of Absence, Paul Robeson, Rhyme Deferred and Miles & Coltrane: Blue (.) As a recording artist, Quentin has multiple albums, including, Homegrown, Take Cover, and #FreedomDay: A Musical Reparations Mixtape by The Talented Tenth of Mr. Talley. Quentin is also the Founder and Artistic Director of OnQ Performing Arts in Charlotte, NC. OnQ is a 501c3 professional theater arts organization with a mission to educate and produce classic, contemporary, and original performance works that reflect the human experience thru the Black perspective.
